CIM MES Vancouver, in collaboration with the Global Business Risk Management and the Professional Risk Management International Association, is pleased to present the following seminar:
Political Risk Insurance as a Management Tool for International Business Risks
Part Two
This seminar provides the attendee an advanced level look into foreign investment risks for which Political Risk Insurance (PRI) is ideal as a method of transfer and mitigation of potential risks that could unfavourably affect the ownership, financial and operational viability of an investment in a foreign jurisdiction. Extractive and non-extractive industry experts with operations, insurance, legal and accounting experience will be leading the interactive seminar.
The seminar will build upon the information discussed on Jan. 31, 2017, being part 1 of the series on PRI. However, an executive summary of Part 1 will be provided so those who did not attend Part 1 will be able to “catch up”.
An overview of the political risk insurance protections available from the commercial insurance sector will be Sean Dunphy, Vice President of Political Risk Insurance at AIG Insurance, one of the leading insurers globally.
An overview of the political risk insurance protections available from MIGA will be presented by Marcus Williams, as an example of the type of PRI provided by multilateral organizations such as the World Bank and regional development banks.
Finally, there will be a discussion of what companies need to really understand about the various PRI products. We will discuss the various types of risks that can be covered, what the company should know before approaching a PRI insurer or broker, and how the company can obtain the insurance that they actually need, with the best protections possible – using the public, private, multilateral markets and working with them to construct joint policies that the broadest coverage possible.
The seminar has been designed for company executives, managers, accountants, bankers, legal advisors and consultants who are planning or have completed a foreign jurisdiction investment in the extractive industry.
