For its Wednesday, November 29, 2017, meeting, the Toronto Discussion Group of CIM’s Management and Economics Society is pleased to welcome:

Aron Cleugh

Managing Director, M.Plan International

who will deliver a presentation on:

Processing Considerations for Specialty Materials Project Development

Abstract: When developing a specialty minerals or metals project, tonnes and grade are not necessarily the most important aspect. The project’s unique mineralogy, metallurgy, and corresponding achievable product quality are often the determining factor of potential success. Specialty deposits differ from base or precious metals deposits in that their economic viability is significantly affected by factors such as morphology, mineralogy, chemical impurities, and market aspects. This presentation uses flake graphite to illustrate this reality.

BIO: Aron has a Bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering from the University of Toronto and an MBA from Queen’s University.  His career in the mining industry began in the technical services group at the Kidd Creek concentrator in 1998. Aron’s operations experience includes Cu, Zn, Al, Ni, and Co processing. In 2007 Aron moved into project engineering when he joined Fluor.  In addition to numerous studies, Aron’s engineering experience includes lead process roles in the detailed engineering phase of two complex hydrometallurgical projects – Pueblo Viejo and the Long Harbour Processing Plant. Aron recently became the Managing Director of M.Plan International where he focuses on helping resource companies advance their specialty mineral projects, and providing valuations and due diligence on specialty minerals projects for financial institutions.

M.Plan International is a joint venture between Micon and Dorfner Anzaplan, created specifically to provide consulting services to the specialty minerals and metals industry. Many of you are familiar with Micon’s services including project development studies, independent engineer, resource estimate, mine planning, and mineral economics services. Dorfner Anzaplan is a privately held laboratory and process development company located in Hirschau, Germany, near the city of Amberg. Anzaplan serves only the specialty minerals and metals sector and offer analytical services as well as pilot plant facilities. M.Plan was created to bring specialized integrated project development services dedicated to serving the specialty minerals and metals sector.
